With China's further urbanization and the rapid
development of automobile industry, urban parking

tenure in Shanghai reached 2.38 million by the
end of 2006, including 870,000 passenger cars.
Of 510,000 private cars is expected to increase
to 600,000 by the end of 2007. Currently, parking
spaces in Shanghai has been in shortage of about
670,000. And it is predicted that in 2010, motor
vehicle ownership in Shanghai will surpass 3 million,
passenger cars could reach 1.2 million to 1.5
million, which will bring the city's huge static
traffic pressure.
Shanghai is the host city for World Expo 2010,
lasting 6 months and expecting more than 73 million
people to visit this grand event, which will cause
severe pressures on the adaptability of transport
