Shanghai is located in the eastern part of the Yangtze River Delta, located in North East Asia monsoon prevailing subtropical regions, belonging to the North subtropical monsoon climate. Shanghai is in influenced by winter and summer monsoon, November to February next year prevailing northwest wind of winter and cold and dry climate, April to August it prevails southeast wind of summer, hot and humid, but July to August, in direct control of the Northwest Pacific subtropical high, sometimes it will be southwest wind, high temperature and dry weather; March and September to October is the season’s transition of monsoon conversion, In that season, East wind and Northeast wind are prevailing and often with low temperature, overcast and rainy.

The main climatic feature of Shanghai: hot in summer and cold in winter, four distinct seasons, but often cold snap in winter. The same season with hot and precipitation rain fall is abundant, but variable; sunlight and temperature coordination, more sunshine. According to the meteorological material of Shanghai (1873 ~ 1994), annual average temperature of 15.5 ℃ and January is the coldest, the average temperature 3.4 ℃. The hottest month is July, the average temperature of 27.5 ℃. April 1 is always cream and the same as November 16. The average frost-free period 228 days, the temperature is above 10 ℃ activities 4,934 ℃ / day, only second to Sichuan Basin and Hangzhou, Anqing, Wuhan, Yichang, south area and so on. Average annual precipitation total 1149.8 mm, the number of days of precipitation 131 days. In April to September, average is above 100 mm. the total rainfall of six months is more than 70% of the year. June and September are two distinct rainy month, the monthly rainfall is above 150 mm, and the rainy season is caused by Autumn Rainfall (including tropical cyclones); and each month in the sunshine is more than 150 hours, July and August is more sunshine during the drought and high-temperature, respectively 251 and 260 hours. October is always a cool climate, less rainy and sunnier, larger temperature difference between day and night.

Generally: the climate in Shanghai has three characteristics
